WHO WE ARE
Abigail Ministries is comprised of a group of diverse individuals who share the same passion for the Lord and for helping women no matter where they are on their journey. We believe that drugs and alcohol are at the root of many of our society's problems. By removing these negative influences and replacing them with appropriate, positive coping behaviors and life skills, women can make positive changes in their lives, and positively impact the lives of their families and children as well.

The Temple-Belton area has very few faith based, sober living opportunities for women. We felt led to meet this need in our community. We will serve women where they are in life and help them get to a better place. We owe a huge thank you to our donors. Without your generous donations, private foundation grants, and the prayers of many people, this wouldn't be possible.

Abigail Ministries follows the successful model of other faith-based programs. We collaborate with those who have persevered through the recovery process to create a quality environment for the women who walk through our doors.

Many people stay in their destructive lifestyle because they do not know what help is available or cannot afford to get help. One of the goals of Abigail Ministries is to provide a recovery program where women can receive training in a safe, drug free environment while learning life skills and working their way back into society.
WHAT WE DO
Our goal is to provide a safe, supportive, faith-based environment where women can learn life skills to transition back into society from correctional facility and other programs.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Lois Knox
Executive Director

I am the Executive Director of Abigail Ministries, founded in 2017. As an educator, wife, mother, and grandmother, I have dedicated my life to helping Kids and Families. I have a bachelor’s in education from UMHB, and a master’s in educational administration from Texas A&M-Central Texas. I obtained a Principal’s Certification and Superintendent’s Certification from Texas A&M-Central Texas as well. After retiring from public education, I taught in the Pre-Release Program at a men’s state jail, taught English and Special Education at County Juvenile Detention as well as served as a school administrator for a CPS Shelter for children.

I have always desired to work with women and children to share my special relationship with the Lord. Being Executive Director of Abigail Ministries, founded in 2017, enables me to share Jesus with the ladies with whom we work.
I see the smiling faces, the look of determination in eyes, and loving-kindness exhibited through deeds. I value each and every person—not because of the bank account or the family name—but because you are a unique treasure. Each of us has a story to tell…many times stories can get messy. The experiences, the pain, the victories combined with the surrounding circumstances make us who we are. Allow me to come alongside to hear your story and make you a part of my story.
